Hospitality Communications..
is the generic term applied to the utilization of wireless communications to provide a higher level of service while developing greater efficiency, lower cost, and more profits. In the area of facility administration, the use of hospitality communications is most often used in the restaurant area, or more commonly known as Food and Beverage or F&B.
In another section on this web page, we describe a system known as AirPage. AirPage is a patron/player notification system used to alert players with they are up for a tee time. In the restaurant, this same type of system can be used to notify diners of table availability. While this is a good application for utilization in larger restaurants, the greater benefit is most often the ability to provide wireless communications between the host station, kitchen, servers, and table clean up personnel. In this section, we will provide information on a low cost wireless 2-way system specifically addressed to F&B needs.

Apparently, there are a lot of people who need efficient on-site 2 way communications. Within the period of one week, we received calls from a medical office, a newly opening lounge, a motel, a contractor, and a fire department. They all wanted the same thing, a quality personal 2 way communications at reasonable cost with no monthly airtime fees! They wanted something better than consumer grade FRS radios, but they did not want the prices associated with commercial equipment. After listening to their needs, we came up with what we think is the ideal package, the Remington RM-75s is a 2 watt radio with the ability to operate on both FRS and GMRS channels.
This radio is equipped with state of the art, memory free rechargeable Nickel Metal Hydride batteries, charger and clip. This amazing radio is capable of both audible and vibrate alert! It can scan multiple frequencies and it even tells you when it is time to charge the battery! The feature that really sets this product apart is a comfortable over the ear earphone connected to an in-line clip on microphone with micro sized push to talk switch (surveillance microphone option) coupled with a vibration alert capability. This radio can be comfortably worn by all types of users with complete privacy and ease of use. Prices are features are shown in the comparison chart below.

The Motorola CP100 series is a great choice for inner-office 2-way communications. With single channel capability, your team members will be able to communicate with each other on any one of 56 preset frequencies. Operation of the CP100 requires an FCC license for one or more operating frequencies in the UHF (464 to 467 MHz ) band. Ordinarily this would be a time consuming and extra cost expense, but Falcon Wireless provides an instant nationwide on-site license at no charge for those we serve.
The CP100 is equipped with a battery meter to tell you when charging or replacement is required, a backlit display for simplified operation in dimly lit areas, four selective call tones to alert specific individuals, both CTCSS and DCS selectable privacy tones to block out interference from other sources. The aforementioned radios are the best of their type in their respective categories. The normal configuration is the basic radio plus the surveillance earpiece and lapel microphone for hospitality use. The Remington RM-75s, priced at $148 with the special surveillance package is our most affordable offering followed by the Motorola CP100 with the surveillance package at $248.
The most expensive model would be the Relm RPU416 with the earpiece and microphone package at $307. Any of these radios would be capable of meeting the typical hospitality requirement. So the question is why would you pay $307 when you could pay $248, or even $148? The answer is COST OF OPERATION AND FLEXIBILITY! First, let us talk about flexibility!
If you are using our commercial grade radios for administration and maintenance, they will NOT be using FRS or GMRS frequencies. They will use commercial Business Band frequencies. To separate F&B from your other operations is OK, but at least you should have the ability to coordinate with administration and maintenance. That requires a commercial grade radio such as the RPU416.
Now, let us address the real cost of your equipment. The real cost is a composite of equipment life, maintenance cost, and initial cost. The Remington RM-75s and the Motorola CP100 are essentially throw away radios after the first year. Generally, the cost of repair will exceed the value of the radio. If the requirement is for anything other than a replacement battery or clip, you just dispose of the radio and get another one. This means you will probably replace the RM-75s once a year and the CP100 every two years. On that basis, the top of the line RPU416 actually costs you LESS over a three year period! So what happens if you DO need service on the RPU416? Simple you pay just $37.50 per repair (excluding abuse, accessories, and batteries). Just give us a call when you need repair. We will send you a replacement radio to arrive the very next day and send call tags to pick up your defective radio. Now THAT is service the way it should be! Technical specifications on the RPU416 is available at http://www.relm.com/pages/products/pdf/516A1.pdf.
The comparison chart below will provide and overview of all three models. Review the features and capabilities of each one, then choose the one that suits your requirements.
